A Terracotta Wedding at the Springs Event Venue Alvarado || Lexi + Ryan

Nov 27, 2021

“The only thing more stunning than the golden sunset light was Lexi in her cathedral veil! We were totally in photography heaven during these portraits!”

This winter wedding at the Springs Event Venue in Alvarado was our last wedding of 2021, and boy did we wrap up the year on a beautiful high note!!

HIGH SCHOOL SWEETHEARTS

Lexi + Ryan have known each other since they were kids, growing up in the same church and going to school together. It’s so impressive that these two stayed together all these years, through growing up, life changes and long distances between them while Ryan served in the armed forces. Given that we ourselves are highschool sweethearts, we consider it such a treat when we get to meet couples who share that background, and even more so when we get to photograph the start of their marriage!

And ya’ll, these two are absolute wedding planning troopers. Ryan returned home from active duty less than 2 months before the wedding. When he got back they also purchased their first home, so in less than 8 weeks they closed on a house, moved in, and did a TON of wedding planning and last minute logistics. Whew!

A REAL EPIC FEEL

This was our first time to the Springs Event Venue in Alvarado, and this place really does make quite the impression. From the beautifully landscaped ceremony site to the towering reception space with massive floor-to-ceiling windows, this place has a real epic feel to it.

We started the day off greeting Lexi (who was as cheerful and upbeat as ever), then we started photographing some bridal details (dress, shoes, jewelry, etc) while familiarizing ourselves with the space a little bit. A short while later, Ryan and his groomsmen arrived, and we got to meet today’s adorable four-legged ring-bearer: Ryan’s dog, Pip, a mini-Australian Shepherd! Such a cutie!

PRACTICALLY GLOWING

After a First Look that was just unbelievably sweet (the look on Ryan’s face is PRICELESS!) and some couple/wedding party portraits, it was time for the ceremony. Lexi walked down the aisle, her beautiful dress and flowing cathedral veil practically glowing in the light, and a few minutes later, she and Ryan said “I Do.”

For their grand entrance, Lexi + Ryan walked their way down the epic staircase in the Springs Alvarado reception hall (so cool!) and then got the party started with their formal dances. Lexi’s dance with her Dad was so sweet, with both father and daughter fighting back tears. Then Ryan and his mom danced together, all while joking and laughing with each other, and it was so stinkin’ cute that soon we were fighting back tears of our own (which I’m sure had nothing to do with our little bundle of cuteness waiting for us back at home!!)

But the tear-jerkers didn’t stop there. Maddi, Lexi’s twin sister, gave a toast during the reception, and it was so touching. She spoke about the intimacy of sisterhood (and twin-hood…if that’s a word?), how much she loved her sister and her new brother in law, and how she was slowly getting used to hearing people say “Lexi + Ryan” rather than “Lexi + Maddi.”

I’m not crying, you’re crying.

As the sun dipped down to the horizon, we snuck Lexi + Ryan outside for some sunset portraits, and let me tell you – the only thing more stunning than the golden sunset light was Lexi in her cathedral veil! We were totally in photography heaven during these portraits! So beautiful!

A short while later, Lexi + Ryan ran to their getaway car under the haze of sparklers, and their wonderful wedding day came to a close.

THANK YOU’S

A big thanks to the parents of the couple Robin, Joe, Amy and Rick for being so welcoming to us and allowing us to take part in such a special celebration, and of course to the wedding party for hanging with us and being so cooperative during portraits!

And an extra huge thanks to Maddi (our MOH for the day) for designing some absolutely incredible floral arrangements for the centerpieces and backdrops at the reception and ceremony. Maddi, your work here was gorgeous!

We also gotta give a shoutout to the videography team who helped us capture this wedding day! Jesse, it was a pleasure working with you and we appreciate all your collaboration! You rock!

TO LEXI + RYAN

Lexi + Ryan, it was such a pleasure and privilege to get to know you both and to be part of your wedding journey! Love like yours, the kind that begins in the early days of youth and lasts a lifetime, is such a beautiful and rare thing, and we’re just honored we got to play a brief role in the awesome story of your lives! Thanks for being so kind and welcoming on your wedding day, for prioritizing your wedding photos by putting faith in us, and for absolutely kicking butt in your engagement and bridal sessions. Ya’ll are awesome, and we wish you the best for all your years to come as husband and wife!

With all the love,

L+L
