We had so much fun at this beautiful St. John Neumann catholic church wedding! Get ready for a touching first look between the bride and her brother, two beautiful and historic venues, and some truly spectacular ceremony florals! Welcome to Julia + Mitchell’s wedding blog!

St. John Neumann Catholic Church Wedding

Here at L+L Photography we love photographing every kind of wedding in just about every type of setting, but we gotta admit there is a special place in our hearts for catholic weddings. There’s something so beautiful about the historic architecture you tend to find with catholic churches.

We’ve been fortunate enough to shoot in some really gorgeous churches, with Tarrytown Methodist, Saint Mary’s Painted Church in Praha and the beautiful Saint Mary’s Cathedral in downtown Austin being some of our favorites!

After this wedding, Saint John Neumann Catholic Church in Austin definitely has a place on our list of favorites! The towering sanctuary space at Saint John Neumann features a Mosaic Dome that is just visually stunning!

A Pair of First Looks

With the help of her mother, Debbie, Julia made the bridal transformation complete by getting into her wedding dress. The energy in the room was palpable; this was a moment that mother and daughter had both imagined for a long time, and it was finally here. Just look at that B&W photo of the two of them below – pure JOY!

Once Julia was finished getting dressed, it was time for us to do a pair of first looks: one with Julia’s brother, the other with her Dad.

And oh my gosh ya’ll, just look at her brother’s face when he see’s his sister. It was so sweet! Moments later, Julia’s younger sister Sophie emerged from the getting ready room as well, and the three Sharum siblings shared a quiet moment together. It was such a meaningful moment to capture, and the photo we included below will likely end up being one of our favorites of the year!!

Next up was Julia’s Dad, Robert. Let’s just say, you’ve gotta scroll down to the see the giant grin that spread across his face when he saw his daughter. Our words here won’t do it justice!

Stunning Floral & The Brodie Homestead

A short while later Julia walked down the aisle, framed by absolutely stunning floral arrangements. We have to give a shoutout to Dee Mackenzie, the floral contact at the church and mastermind behind these pieces. Incredible work, Dee!

As his bride approached the altar, Mitchell watched with tears streaming down his cheeks. Julia grinned back. The ceremony was beautiful from start to finish, and soon Julia + Mitchell were married!

From there, we made our way to the reception venue, The Brodie Homestead. The Brodie is such a unique and striking venue. Originally built in 1949 as an actual barn, the historic structure has been in use as a wedding venue since 2014, and provides such a unique and timeless setting for the couples who choose the Brodie as the setting for their wedding day.

A Moving Tribute

If there is one thing the Sharum and Prince families know how to do, it’s give TOASTS! My gosh, the toasts at this wedding were outstanding!

Robert’s toasts was a 3-in-1, beautifully tailored to the happy couple. Mitchell had the room rolling with a fake-out about expressing his feelings in song, while Ryan, the best man, told stories of the groom making some pretty creative nerf gun modifications as a child.

Then Sophie closed the evening with a moving tribute to sisterhood, the bittersweet realities of growing up and the admiration she has for her sister and her new brother-in-law. There couldn’t have been a better toast to finish out the night!

The Best Place for a Bubble Exit

The night came to a close and Julia + Mitchell did their grand exit with bubbles but with a twist! Thanks to the shotgun style entrance at the Brodie, we did the exit INSIDE and let us tell you, that’s the best place for a bubble exit! Check out those exit photos!

THANK YOU’S

A big thank you to the Sharum and Prince families for being so welcoming and kind to us! You were all just wonderful to work with and we so appreciate everything you did to make the day such a success!

We also owe a big thank you to our wedding party, who were so cooperative and helped us get wedding party portraits done quickly despite the heat! You are all troopers and we appreciate you!

Lastly, a huge thanks to the vendor team who helped to make this day the beautiful celebration it was! You can check out the full list below, but we want to give a special shout out to Dee Mackenzie at Saint John Neumann, Cameren at the Brodie Homestead and the team at Wild Bunches Floral, who created the gorgeous greenery install at the reception. Ya’ll are awesome!
