Classic Wedding at Westwood Country Club

Jul 23, 2022

Get ready for an INCREDIBLE classic wedding at Westwood Country Club! This wedding has an emotional first look, a gorgeous ceremony in a historic Austin church, absolutely DREAMY sunset portraits, and a reception that was more of an epic concert than your typical open dancing reception!

Not to mention one of the most historic grand exits EVER. Seriously ya’ll, get ready for this one – it’s Callie + Jack’s Wedding Blog!

Classic Wedding at Westwood Country Club

Established in 1955, Westwood Country Club is a beautiful members-only club located just west of Mopac near Laguna Gloria and the Lake Austin Shoreline. The twentieth century architecture is complimented by an unbelievable view of Lake Austin (especially at sunset) so we were really psyched when Callie + Jack told us that Westwood would be their reception location.

For their ceremony location, Callie + Jack chose Tarrytown Methodist Church, Callie’s childhood church. This historic Austin church was such a perfect place for them to say their vows and begin their journey as wife and husband.

The Commodore Riverboat

If there is one thing this wedding has in spades, it’s history. Callie’s family was responsible for hand-building the Commodore, a historic Austin riverboat that has been in service since the 1940’s. Callie’s family arranged for the historic craft to be their getaway vehicle at the end of the night. How cool is that?!

That’s the kind of day this was. The kind where history and legacy of these families really came to life because the people really cherished and treasured what came before, and all the moments that have led them to where they are now.

Getting Ready & The Bottom of the 9th

There is SO much to share from this wedding day that this blog could be a mile long! We arrived on the morning of the wedding at Callie’s parents house in Tarrytown, where Callie and her bridesmaids were getting ready. As Cindy, Callie’s mom, helped her into her dress they reminisced about the many times they tried on her dress for this moment in this very same room. It was so sweet!

Jack and his groomsmen got ready in the Presidential Suite at the AT&T Hotel. Ya’ll, the view from this balcony is incredible. You can literally step outside and to your right you’ll see the TX State Capitol and to your left you’ll see the the iconic UT Tower. Callie has deep Longhorn roots (she was a UT Cheerleader) but Jack actually went to Auburn, so you can imagine which of these two Austin landmarks we chose for our background on the balcony 🙂

In case you didn’t know, its baseball season, and you better believe Jack and his guys were crowded around the TV watching UT face off against East Carolina. It was the bottom of the 9th and the game was a nail biter, but UT came out on top and set us all in positive spirits as we headed to the church to meet Callie and the girls.

The Big Day

After a pair of emotional first looks (one with her Dad and Brother, the other with Jack himself) Callie walked down the aisle at Tarrytown Methodist, grinning ear to ear at her soon to be husband. The excitement and love between these two was palpable!

After the ceremony we moved from Tarrytown to Westwood Country Club, and the night’s celebration began in earnest. Thanks to the folks at Monarch florals for helping to breathe life into this wedding reception with your hard work and artistry. You rock!

Speaking of artistry, another major shout out is due to the BRW Band for helping to keep the dance floor absolutely packed all night long. This was less of a wedding reception and more of a five star concert. Ya’ll were awesome!

A New Orleans-style Parade

Lead by the brass section of the BRW Band in a New Orleans style mini-parade, Callie and Jack danced their way across the Westwood Country Club dock, surrounded by their closest friends and family. It was so much fun ya’ll. We highly recommend having a jazz band play you out at your grand exit!

Then, they moved to the lower docks and after a few minutes of anticipation, the Commodore appeared. Callie + Jack jumped aboard and floated off into the night, waving to their guests, and kissing under the romantic moonlight.

Thank you’s

Much like this wedding blog, the list of thank you’s for this wedding could be a mile long!

To Cindy, Edward, Chad, Don, Mary Beth, Henry and everyone in the Fowler and Kiser families, thank you so much for all your kindness and generosity, and for truly welcoming us into the celebration on the wedding day. We were honored to be part of it!

To the wedding party, you were all troopers! It was such a hot day but ya’ll were so cooperative and upbeat, and we made it through your wedding party portraits in record time. Thank you so much!

A big thanks to the whole vendor team who made this day possible, but special shoutouts to Monarch Florals, Billy Kennedy and Robin with The Event by Robin. We appreciate you all!

CALLIE + JACK

Oh my gosh, you two, ya’ll are so awesome. We had so much fun spending such a special day with ya’ll, and are just so thankful you let us be part of the whole thing. Ya’ll truly have an incredible group of friends and loved ones that are cheering you on as you start this journey of marriage together. It’s such a testament to the love you have for each other and for your community that so many gathered together to celebrate the two of you. We wish you all the best in love and life. Here’s to many, many more years filled with laughter, a bit of competitiveness, and slow dancing to Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats.

With all the love,

L+L
