This wedding is a long time in the making! And it’s a great example of why we LOVE what we do!
April + Ben are students at Auburn University, and we first connected with them on Instagram back in June of 2019! Like many couples, their wedding was originally scheduled for last year, but COVID forced them to push the big day to 2021.
Nevertheless, April + Ben played it cool, calm and collected. We worked with them to reschedule their wedding, and were able to get everything moved to this year without issue. Here we are almost two years from when we first met, and it’s finally time to celebrate them!
For their venue, April + Ben chose the beautiful Marquardt Ranch in Boerne, TX. This elegant hidden gem is tucked away in the rolling hill country just a short drive southwest from San Marcos. It was our first time here, but we will DEFINITELY be back! It looks and feels like an Italian villa – so dreamy!
We arrived on the wedding day with the special blend of anticipation and excitement that seems to only exist on the morning of a wedding. The Marquardt Ranch is equipped with two beautiful getting ready suites, so we got to spend some extra time with April + Ben, and just had fun getting to know the wedding party and capture some of those special pre-ceremony moments.
We love SO many things about this wedding. From the memory lane pathway adorned with photos of them throughout their relationship, to Ben’s crew (shoutout to our favorite Groomswoman, Karena) drinking “Corona” because these folks have the best sense of humor, to the fact that they played the acoustic version of “Times Like These” by the Foo Fighters during their processional, and top it off with some movie quotes peppered throughout their vows – I mean they’re touching on pretty much every L+L love language here, and we love it!
There wasn’t a single dry eye by the end of that ceremony. Ben’s grandfather officiated, and it was so touching to watch him lead his grandson through the ceremony and to the start of his marriage. Our favorite quote from the ceremony: “As The Good Place Architect once said, ‘Soulmates aren’t found. They’re made.’” Gosh, just give us all the feels!
And then, with perfect golden light all around and the waters of the Guadalupe River flowing just a few feet away, April + Ben finally got to say “I Do.” The Day transitioned to night, and from ceremony to celebration, and soon April + Ben were kissing under the haze of sparklers and heading off to their honeymoon.
Special shoutout to Jessica, Stephanie and the whole team at The Marquardt Ranch, as well as Krista Lee with A Signature Event. We are so grateful for your hard work and collaboration on this day, and we can’t wait to work with you again!
April + Ben, thank you both SO MUCH for trusting us to be your wedding photographers. We know the last year couldn’t have been easy between school at Auburn and planning and postponing (and planning again) a wedding, but you two weathered it all with such grace and poise. We are so impressed with you two, and the community of love and support you’ve built around yourselves in the family and friends who helped you to celebrate on your wedding day. We wish you all the best in your marriage, and look forward to watching you both take over the world in the years ahead. And, if we’re being honest, we can’t wait until you have that little army of girls you talked about. You two will be such great parents one day!
With all the love,
L+L
