CW Hill Country Ranch Wedding || Laurel + Aaron

Jan 3, 2022

Welcome to one of our most HUGELY anticipated blogs ever – it’s Laurel + Aaron’s wedding! These two have been wedding party members and/or guests at multiple L+L Weddings, so we have been looking forward to this day for a long, LONG time!

A Return to Boerne

Though we photograph a lot of weddings in the Austin area, this was not our first trip to Boerne, TX for an L+L Couple. Long-time readers of the L+L Blog might remember April + Ben who also got married in Boerne last year. Returning to that neck of Central Texas brought back lots of memories about our lives the last time we were there.

We were pregnant with Judah and our business was starting to grow like crazy. We had just returned from our baby moon in Maui. It was such a special time, with so many exciting things just around the corner. And here we are almost a year later, with our little love making all our days that much brighter!

Our Kinda People

In their engagement session blog, we talked about how Laurel + Aaron are 100% our people. We mentioned their fellow affection for cats (say hey to Minnie for us, Laurel!) and their mutual love of all things nature and hiking. Oh and did we mention they are photographers too? You can see why we love them so much, right?!

But over the course of working with them for the past year, we’ve learned that our shared values with them go even deeper. L+L Couples know that we preach a concept we call “Planning & Spontaneity”. We work with our couples to go over the logistics of their wedding day and iron out all the timeline/photography details in advance, but remind them that the purpose of doing this is to allow them the freedom to be spontaneous, flexible and low-stress on the wedding day.

Laurel + Aaron completely embodied this idea. Not only were they voracious planners (seriously, Laurel, you may want to look into a career in wedding planning!), but they were able to be detail-oriented without losing sight of what matters most – celebrating the start of their marriage with the people they love.

When the weather forecast took a turn for the cold and rainy, and it was looking like their ceremony would need to move indoors, Laurel and Aaron took those changes in stride. They had planned every detail they could, and it was now time to enjoy their wedding day, be spontaneous when moments presented themselves, and celebrate with their loved ones.

And celebrate they stinkin’ did.

Bloom

Laurel walked down the aisle absolutely radiant. If you want to see what true love looks like, scroll down to the shot of Aaron’s face as he saw his bride for the first time. Chills!

The ceremony was beautiful. Laurel’s grandfather officiated, and the man had a voice like Sir David Attenborough. After a few readings, one of which quoted this song we love, Laurel + Aaron exchanged teary vows, and walked out of that room as husband and wife. Look at the laughter and joy on their faces once they did the darn thing. So good!!

The Party of the Year

Then the party really began, and with so many delightful personal touches from Laurel + Aaron. Like how they walked into their grand entrance wearing jerseys (a nod to their favorite team, the San Antonio Spurs) and ripped them off like breakaway pants at the center of the dance floor. Or their beautifully choreographed first dance, so elegant and bold. We loved it all!

After toasts were given by their dads, the maid of honor and best man, Laurel + Aaron gave speeches of their own to thank their guests. True to form, Laurel thanked everyone from top to bottom: the vendors, the venue, the officiant, the wedding party members, family, loved ones and of course, her new husband. Aaron, a man of few words by his own admission, offered the perfect balance to her detailed gratitude with a simple, heartfelt “Thank you.” I mean, how perfect are these two?!

And these people were DANCERS. The dance floor was packed all night, thanks in large part to Toast Entertainment, and we had so much fun capturing all the party energy as the night went on.

As the night came to a close, Laurel + Aaron stepped outside for one last slow dance under the arch at the outdoor ceremony site. Lord Huron’s, “The Night we Met” echoed from the reception, and the part of the year came to a close.

Thank you’s

The list of thank you’s for this wedding day could be a mile long, but we’ll try to keep it brief!

A HUGE thank you to our wedding party for the day who braved the cold weather for some quick portraits outside and did with a smile! We appreciate you all so much!

Thanks so much to Alan, Dora, Rusty and Laurie for being so kind and welcoming to us on the wedding day!

Thanks to Kara with Sparkle Plenty Films for all your hard work and collaboration! We really enjoyed working with you!

And a big thanks to Sierra, Katelyn & Sabrina with Cherished by Us for helping to keep the day running smoothly, flipping the space so quickly, and all the other things you did to help make this day the success that it was! Ya’ll are awesome!

Laurel + Aaron

Oh gosh, Laurel + Aaron…we have been thinking about writing this blog for over a year! You two have been so wonderful throughout the process of working with you, and your appreciation for and support of our business means so much to us. We are so grateful to have gotten to know you both, and even more grateful you chose us to be your wedding photographers.

And truly, we are such big fans of yours. Wherever life leads you (and we have a feeling it will lead you to some really exciting and interesting places) we know your love for each other will pave the way, and that you’ll find happiness there.
