There’s a certain kind of wedding that feels like it was made for spring — saturated with color, full of joy, and layered with the kind of personal meaning that makes every detail feel intentional. Megan and Dalton’s wedding at the San Antonio Country Club was exactly that. From a vibrant invitation suite bursting with florals to a dance floor draped in bougainvillea and disco balls, their May celebration was one of the most beautifully joyful days we’ve had the privilege of documenting.
As a San Antonio Country Club wedding photographer, we can say without hesitation: this venue is stunning, and this couple made it absolutely come alive.
Before we get to the wedding day, we have to talk about the proposal — because it’s one of those stories that makes you sigh a little.
Dalton took Megan to Montana to visit his grandparents, a place his family has returned to every summer since he was three years old. He told her they were heading to lunch with family friends. But when they pulled up, Megan spotted champagne set up at the bottom of the dock — and she immediately knew. He proposed surrounded by the mountains and the water, in one of the most meaningful places his family has ever known.
And then they went back to the house — where her parents were waiting.
The whole week became a celebration, and honestly, it set the tone perfectly for the kind of wedding day that followed: deeply personal, full of family, and filled with moments that feel too good to be planned.
Choosing a venue was easy for this couple. They both grew up at the San Antonio Country Club — swimming, playing golf, pickleball — so in many ways it had always been home. When it came time to think about where to get married, the answer was obvious. The club offered everything they needed: a beautiful outdoor ceremony space, elegant reception rooms, and the kind of familiarity that made the whole day feel natural and comfortable.
The date, a Saturday in early May, came together just as organically. Megan wanted spring. Dalton, in his own words, had absolutely no interest in sweating through his tuxedo. May it was.
If there’s one word to describe the design of their wedding day, it’s joyful. Megan knew from the beginning that she wanted color — not a neutral palette, not muted tones, but the full, saturated beauty of spring blooms. Their colors started with layered pinks and greens, then opened up to include pops of blue, yellow, and orange. The result was lush, layered, and completely alive.
Looking at their invitation suite alone — a blush and gold formal invite with a delicate hand-painted floral monogram, paired with a chartreuse green save-the-date framed in wildflowers — you could feel exactly where the day was headed.
Their florist took Megan’s inspiration and ran with it in the best possible way. The flowers exceeded even what she had imagined. But the moment that stopped everyone in their tracks? The dance floor. Overhead, the florist had draped bougainvillea, lush greenery, and disco balls from the ceiling, creating an installation that was somehow both wild and elegant at the same time. Magical is the only word for it.
One of the things we love most about Megan and Dalton’s day is how much of her family’s history she carried with her.
Her bouquet was wrapped in lace from her mother’s wedding dress and pinned with a broach that belonged to her late grandmother — one that her grandfather had made himself. The moment she saw it, she knew it had to be there.
On her finger, she wore a ring she received on her 25th birthday — made using diamonds from both of her grandmothers and an amethyst from her great-grandmother. Three generations, one piece of jewelry.
And her earrings — handmade by her grandfather — had their own story. They originally belonged to her late grandmother, then her mother wore them as her “something borrowed” on her own wedding day. Her grandparents later gifted them to her mom for her 40th birthday. And on Megan’s wedding day, they became her “something borrowed,” too.
There’s a particular kind of quiet magic in jewelry that has been loved that many times over. We felt it every time we photographed her.
Dalton is, by his own declaration, a wedding cake expert. He has been taste-testing cakes at weddings for years and came prepared. He led the charge on the cake decision — a champagne cake with vanilla buttercream, finished in clean white with white florals and a traditional bride-and-groom topper. Classic, beautiful, and reportedly delicious.
The real crowd favorite, though, was the Johnny Margarita Bar. Megan’s dad, Johnny, is legendary in San Antonio for his margaritas. They are, per the family, famous — and there was no question they had to be part of the reception. A custom neon sign reading “Johnny Margs” lit up the bar, and Johnny himself made sure the bartenders had the recipe exactly right. It was, predictably, a massive hit.
Getting to document a wedding at the San Antonio Country Club is always a privilege. The venue’s outdoor ceremony space, surrounded by lush Texas Hill Country views, creates a beautiful natural backdrop, while the interiors give plenty of room for the kind of colorful, layered design Megan envisioned. Add in a couple who was completely present, completely joyful, and completely themselves — and it made for a day that was an absolute honor to photograph.
