Judah’s Fourth Month

Welcome to Judah’s Fourth Month! This month saw an EXPLOSION of personality, and our sweet Judah James has definitely already started to carve out his place in the world and in our little family of three!

MONTH FOUR: GROWING LIKE CRAZY

While preparing for Judah to be born, we learned about a concept known as the Fourth Trimester. This theory, coined by Dr. Harvey Karp, teaches that although babies spend three trimesters in the womb, they actually experience a fourth trimester outside the womb (aka the first three months).

This fourth trimester is mostly spent doing what babies do inside the womb (sleeping, eating, growing, etc) and it’s only upon graduating from the fourth trimester that babies truly hit a developmental leap and start interacting with the world around them in new and exciting ways.

Sure enough, when Judah emerged from his fourth trimester his growth and development kicked into high gear! At his four month check up with the Doctor, Judah measured almost 27 inches long, which means he grew 4 inches in just one month! He’s now measuring in the 95th percentile for his age, and he weights 16 lbs, 15 oz. My gosh this is a growing boy!

Just before the turn of the year, Judah rolled over for the first time! Plus he can spend much longer surveying the room in tummy time. He lifts his chest up, almost like he’s in upward dog, and watches Kiki, Tiger Lily and Rocco (our cats) as they lounge beside him, dart across the room for a treat, or try to murder each other (mostly kidding).

Judah also got to experience his first Christmas (so much fun!), his first trail of lights, his first visit to a restaurant, and he got to start using what has since become one of his favorite toys, his Rainforest Jumperoo!

And now that he’s a little older and he knows the guitar all too well, his dad started showing him the piano too, playing some songs with Judah on his lap. Judah loves to touch the keys and slap at them to make sounds. He loves music already!!

One of the most amazing things to happen in his fourth month was when Judah get to meet his newest cousin, Baby Alexander! Judah has a cousin just 4 months younger than him, and we are so excited for them to grow up together! Congratulations, Risa + Chris! And welcome to the world, Baby Alexander!

THINGS WE WANT TO REMEMBER

• He loves going on walks around our neighborhood, watching the pine trees go by
• He REALLY loves being carried in the Baby Bjorn Carrier
• Blowing spit bubbles and drooling are some of his favorite pastimes
• He rolled over for the first time on December 28th
