Mansion at Colovista weddings are some of our favorites, so what better way to ring in the new year than by celebrating Quinn + Stanley at this stunning classic wedding?
Quinn and Stanley are the latest L+L Couple that met in high school (history class to be exact!) and we love it! It’s always a treat to meet fellow high school sweethearts, and extra special to be part of their wedding journey! These days, Stanley is stationed in Pearl Harbor and Quinn is finishing up nursing school at Texas A&M, soon to join her husband in the Aloha state.
After visiting Maui for the first time this year, we are hoping Quinn + Stanley hire us to do an anniversary session next year – we’ll take any reason we can get to go back to Hawaii!
Quinn + Stanley were the epitome of a kind, welcoming and courteous bride and groom. When we walked in the getting ready suite to greet Quinn, the first thing she asked was to see pictures of Judah – so sweet! And of course, we were happy to oblige her, since we take about 12,000 photos of him every day! As his dad is fond of saying, Judah might be the most photographed kid in North America!
After we got some photos of her bridal details and some getting ready candids, Quinn did a First Look with her Dad, John, that was just so heart-warming and lovely. John wore a custom-made tie that had a photo of him with his daughter when she was just a little girl, and we (the new, sleep deprived parents in the room) got SO weepy looking at that photo. We included a photo of the tie below, make sure to check it out!
Tucked away in the pine forest east of Bastrop, the Mansion at Colovista is a must-tour venue for couples who want a classic setting for their big day. Quinn + Stanley certainly embraced the classic elegance, with a white/black/greenery color palette complete with beautiful florals courtesy of Bastrop native, Brenda Abbott Floral Design.
Quinn + Stanley said their vows in a ceremony filled with personal touches we just loved. Quinn’s brother, Dillon, officiated (and did a great job!), and to add some personal flair to their unity sand ceremony, they incorporated sand from Bastrop (the place they met) and the beaches of Hawaii (their future home). Lastly, Stanley pulled a total rockstar move, and rather than simply walking back down the aisle at the end of the ceremony, he picked up and carried his new bride during the recessional. So awesome!
During their couple portraits, Stanley and Quinn started to dance with each other playfully, and Lee asked if the reception would be a lively one. Stanley grinned knowingly, “oh yeah.” he said.
Sure enough, ya’ll, this group had some DANCERS, including Stanley and Quinn themselves. At one point, Quinn and her bridesmaids were belting out Dancing Queen, Stayin’ Alive and a whole bunch of other 70’s favorites while wearing some really groovy sunglasses, and Stanley and his groomsmen took over the dance floor to perform a synchronized version the Y.M.C.A. It was awesome!
We have to extend a big thank you to Lynn, Quinn’s mom, who was involved with our planning and correspondence in advance of the wedding. Lynn, you were so kind and welcoming on the wedding day and helped keep everything running smoothly – we appreciate you!
A big thank you to the whole Blackwell and Obenza families for inviting us to take part in the celebration and for absolutely knocking it out of the park on the dance floor.
Another big thanks is due to Katherine and Becky from B&K Elegant Events – always a pleasure to work with you both! And Ryan and Nathan from New Creation Videography – thanks for being such great collaborators and helping to tell the story of Quinn + Stanley’s wedding day. We appreciate you!
Quinn + Stanley, we are so grateful for you two! It’s clear how special the bond you share must be, by how joyful and excited your community was on the wedding day. It’s such a gift to get to capture just a fraction of that joy and care and support, and we’re honored to have been able to do so. Thanks for inviting us to take part in the celebration, and we wish you all the best in the months, years and decades to come. And seriously, if you ever want to do an anniversary session on the beach in Hawaii, you know who to call!
With all the love,
L+L
