Indoor Wedding at Canyonwood Ridge

In the years we’ve been in business we’ve photographed quite a few indoor weddings in Central Texas. Between the blistering summer heat and the sudden thunderstorms that like to pop up in the rainy season, it never hurts to have a solid indoor ceremony option at your wedding venue, and Cayonwood Ridge has exactly that.

Not only does this ceremony space have ample natural lighting (look at those windows!), but the high ceiling and chandeliers all contribute towards making this room a truly unbeatable indoor wedding ceremony space!

Artists at Heart

If Molly + Royal sound familiar, it’s because they appeared on the L+L Blog back in September for their engagement session at Laguna Gloria. It was then we discovered these two are artists at heart (Molly a photographer, Royal a painter & sculpter) so it’s no wonder that their wedding was absolutely gorgeous!

Molly described her wedding colors as “canyon colors” which is of course a great fit for Canyonwood Ridge! Terracotta, dusty pink, tangerine and brushed gold colors accented the beautiful greenery courtesy of Unforgettable Floral. It was absolutely stunning!

The Wedding Day

Anticipation filled the air on this wedding morning. Both Molly and Royal were SO excited to finally be marrying each other! After a really touching first look with Dad and a bride’s party reveal that produced one of our favorite images ever (look at the full range of emotions on those faces!) Molly and Royal decided to do an impromptu first touch, and the emotion was palpable.

After a beautiful ceremony officiated by Molly’s brother in law, she and Royal walked back up the aisle, grinning from ear to ear, now husband and wife! Later, at the reception, there was an Anniversary Dance (sometimes called a “Remember When Dance”), in which Molly’s grandparents took home the title of longest marriage in the room at more than SIXTY years!

After Molly + Royal cut their BEAUTIFUL wedding cake from our friends at Keep it Sweet, we moved into toasts and formal dances, including a teary Mother/Son dance that had BOTH of us getting a little weepy.

Finally, Molly + Royal enjoyed their last dance together (to “My Way” by Frank Sinatra, classy choice M+R!) and the night came to a close.

This thank you list could be a mile long but we’ll try to keep it short! A big thanks to the Schoger and Lucas’ families for being so kind and welcoming on the wedding day! We so enjoyed getting to celebrate with you all!

To the wedding party, we appreciate you all so much! Ya’ll might hold the record for fastest combined wedding party portraits ever, and ya’ll rocked it!

Congratulations you two! We have so enjoyed getting to know ya’ll over the last several months, and we’re just so grateful we got to play a small part in your wedding story. In the same way the anticipation you two felt at seeing each other on the wedding day was so evident and palpable to the people around you, so is the sincerity and depth of the love you share. Ya’ll really have something special, and we’re glad we got to capture a piece of it! We wish you all the best in love and life and family, and we hope you keep making beautiful art together. 🙂
