A Fall Wedding at the Allen Farmhaus || Claire + Joel

Feb 11, 2022

This Fall Wedding at the Allen Farmhaus could not be more beautiful!

You guys. There was so much about this day and this venue and this unbelievably beautiful wedding that we absolutely adored, but today’s blog starts and ends with the couple: Claire + Joel.

The depth and joy and intimacy at the center of the love these two share was just infectious on the wedding day, and we were so honored to get to capture it.

THE HISTORY

Claire + Joel actually met on E-Harmony, and were such a strong match they never dated anyone else from the site. Bravo, E-Harmony! They started spending time together, they fell in love, and eventually Joel knew it was time to propose. He made plans to ask her to be his wife on New Year’s Eve, but wanted to keep it a surprise.

As luck would have it, Claire asked him about his thoughts on marriage the NIGHT BEFORE he was planning to propose. Not one to spoil a good surprise, Joel kept it under wraps, telling her he still wanted to wait a while. On the last day of the year he popped the question, she (of course) said yes, and that is when Claire learned that her future husband has a pretty good poker face, especially if it’s to surprise his future bride!

THE WEDDING

The day was surprisingly windy when we arrived at the Allen Farmhaus, but it was worth it for the clear skies and sunny 70-degree temperature we enjoyed that day! Lacey joined Claire and her bridesmaids getting ready in the beautiful Bride’s House, while Lee captured some scene-setters and ceremony details before joining Joel and his guys in the groom’s suite.

The ceremony itself was perfect, made even more emotionally impactful by the music Claire + Joel chose to play during the processional! Claire walked down the aisle to The Goodness of God, a song that has tear-jerker written all over it for these two photographers. Such a special moment!

Claire + Joel said their vows, shared a kiss, and soon were entering their reception space, which was GORGEOUS! The floral arrangement hanging over the barn door entrance, the trademarked “KAISER” (Joel’s last name) sign hanging over the cake, needless to say the decor was top notch, no doubt courtesy of Claire’s planning savvy and attention to detail.

As the night drew to a closer, we got a delightful surprise. For their last dance (or last public dance anyway) song, Claire + Joel chose Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd. What started as a giant sing along eventually evolved into a full-blown mosh-pit-dance-party set to the unbeatable guitar solo Freebird is known for.

It. Was. Amazing.

We’ve seen some awesome last dance songs, but this one took the cake. L+L Couples, if you’ll have a dancin’ crowd at your wedding, trust us, end your night with FREEBIRD!

As guests filed outside to line up for sparklers, Claire + Joel enjoyed one last, quiet moment as bride and groom in their private last dance. It was a perfect end to a perfect day.

THE HAPPY COUPLE

To Claire + Joel – you two are so awesome! We could not be more grateful to you two! We were truly so honored that you chose us and we were so grateful for all the encouragement and support you offered the past nine months as we prepared to bring Judah into the world and into our family. The way you two look at each other is so delightfully loving and sweet, and its no wonder you’ve drawn such a wonderful community of people around the two of you.
