Welcome to Judah’s Fifth Month! This month in Judah’s life brought many new and exciting things! Judah is such a naturally curious kid. He wants to see, touch and taste everything, and getting to watch him experience the world for the first time is more delightful and fulfilling than we could have ever expected!
There’s a poem we heard once that seems fitting here. It’s by J. Hope Stein, and we have to thank Mike Birbiglia’s “The New One” for introducing it to us. It goes like this:
“An infant reaches for something. I don’t know what. Pushes it farther away and cries in frustration.
Each time she reaches, not realizing she’s crawling for the first time.
She’s just like her father.”
Though Judah isn’t crawling yet, he definitely fulfills the first line of that poem. With each minute that passes, each event that occurs in front of his eye, Judah reaches. He pushes forward, grasping towards the latest new thing that he wants to touch, taste and understand.
He reaches for the little stuffed animals that dangle from the “trees” on his jumperoo. He reaches for the volume and sound buttons on the piano while his daddy plays with him in his lap. He reaches for his momma’s glasses to pull them off her face. Curious and perceptive, he seems so hungry to experience everything around him.
My goodness, do we love this sweet boy.
P.S. If you haven’t seen Mike Birbiglia’s “The New One”, which we referenced above, it’s truly a MUST watch!
