MARY + LOGAN || A Colorful Scenic Engagement Session at Mckinney Falls State Park

“The soft glow of the cloudy sunset mixed with Mary + Logan’s gorgeously colorful outfits made this session a photographer’s dream!”

Mckinney Falls is a top Austin engagement session location without a doubt! The sprawling neutral rock face with tall trees overlooking the streams and waterfalls make this one of our favorite places to take photos, and even though it has a tendency to be a bit more crowded in the evening, it’s not so crowded that we only offer sunrise sessions here (unlike another popular Austin engagement session spot!).

We met Mary + Logan at Mckinney Falls on a day that was basically forecasted to have non-stop thunderstorms all through the evening. We were a tad nervous we were going to get rained out and even considered rescheduling, but after a few hours of anxiously watching the radar, we ultimately decided to roll the dice and make our way to Mckinney Falls.

And thank goodness we did, because it didn’t rain a DROP! Plus, the soft glow of the cloudy sunset mixed with Mary + Logan’s gorgeously colorful outfits made this session a photographer’s dream! And of course, these two were absolutely brilliant during their session, bringing a fun, relaxed and playful dynamic to the images that we just love!

Mary + Logan met when they were in high school and started dating their junior year, so we have an extra soft soft spot in our hearts for these fellow high school sweethearts! Originally from Wichita, Mary + Logan moved to the Austin area in October of 2019, and Mary actually now works at Deep Roots, at an amazing salon in Bee Caves on the west side of Austin. L+L Couples, we highly recommend Mary and the team at Deep Roots! They do incredible work!

When we asked about their proposal story, Logan said he popped the question at Driftwood Winery, though he admitted it didn’t quite go according to plan. Driftwood has some gorgeous views (and is normally a perfect spot for proposing to your person) but on that day there was thick fog so they couldn’t see the view at ALL.

With the weather not cooperating, Mary was restless to leave and head somewhere else for their date, but Logan had already worked up the courage to propose and certainly wasn’t going to let a little fog stop him!

He asked her to marry him and of course she said yes, and the moment was ultimately just as beautiful with or without the landscape views of the winery. And like so many great wedding or proposal stories that we love to hear and to tell, the perfectly imperfect aspects of it are what make it so great!

Mary + Logan are getting married at Le San Michele in April of 2022 and we could not be more excited!! Thanks to these two for being such awesome people and subjects during this session, and for braving the rain to make some art with us! We appreciate you both!!

With all the love,

L+L

P.S. Speaking of perfectly imperfect wedding stories, ask us about our sparkler exit from our wedding sometime. That one is a doozy :)))
