“By the way” he said, “I’m going to ask her to marry me during the session.”

We first met Dillon in early 2020 when we photographed his sister Micaela’s wedding, so we were excited when he reached out to book a session celebrating the three year anniversary of him and Jessica being together. “By the way” he said, “I’m planning to propose during the session.”

We practically LEAPT off the couch with excitement! Surprise proposals are SO much fun, and create some really beautiful and meaningful images for the couple!

In the days before the session, we worked with Dillon to make a plan for how it would all go down, complete with a code word to give him the green light when it was time to get down on one knee.

Jessica + Dillon were absolutely wonderful during the session, and even though Dillon was probably filled with anticipation at the thought of popping the question, he kept his cool and helped us get some really beautiful photos.

Then it was finally time! We gave Dillon the code word and he dropped down on one knee. Jessica turned to find a smiling Dillon with a ring in his hand, and she said yes!!

We kept taking photos, but kept our distance a bit to give these two some space and time to just enjoy the moment. As great as it is to have photos of such a special and important event in your lives, it’s equally important to just focus on each other and connect as you soak it all in. We believe photos are priceless, but experiences like this deserve to be embraced. So we gave them some time to let the world drift away as they savored this exhilarating moment.

Congratulations, Jessica + Dillon! The care and kindness you showed each other during the session was truly beautiful, and it speaks to the long and happy marriage you have to look forward to! We are so thankful for the chance to play a small part in your story, and we so enjoyed spending some time with you taking photos at Bull Creek!. We can’t wait to capture and celebrate the start of your marriage next year! May of 2021 can’t get here soon enough!
