Some wedding days feel like a perfect reflection of the couple – deeply personal, and effortlessly meaningful. Hartlea and Mike’s fall wedding at Prospect House was exactly that. Set against the rolling Texas Hill Country in October, their day blended warm autumn tones with vintage-inspired details, sentimental family heirlooms, and a celebration that felt both elevated and joyfully relaxed.
Prospect House was the very first venue Hartlea and Mike toured, and it immediately clicked. Hartlea was drawn to the venue’s clean, architectural lines and neutral palette—a true blank slate that allowed her creative vision to take center stage. The Hill Country views, airy indoor spaces, and thoughtful design details made it the ideal setting for a fall celebration rooted in both nostalgia and modern style.
October was always the goal, and the date itself carried personal meaning for Mike’s family, making the choice feel even more intentional.
Inspired by her upbringing surrounded by antiques and her grandmother’s love of collecting, Hartlea envisioned a wedding day with subtle nods to the past—particularly the warmth and character of the 1960s and 70s. That retro influence showed up everywhere, from color choices to decor accents, without ever feeling themed or overdone.
The palette blended fall and vintage seamlessly: oranges, corals, yellows, pinks, reds, and rich olive greens. The result was layered, textured, and full of life – especially when paired with the natural beauty of Prospect House in autumn.
Florals played a major role in bringing the vision to life. One standout feature was Prospect House’s signature bud vase wall, which was completely filled with seasonal arrangements and accented with floral garlands. Their ceremony space, overlooking the Hill Country, was lined with florals that felt organic and abundant without competing with the landscape.
Their florist, Carrington of The Farmer and I, incorporated many blooms grown on her own farm—flowers that were not only in season, but deeply connected to the time and place of the wedding.
To lean into the retro vibe, disco balls were tucked into floral installations throughout the day, catching the light and adding playful sparkle—a subtle but unforgettable nod to the 70s.
True to their personalities, Hartlea and Mike embraced a fun, eclectic approach to food with station-style dining. Guests could mix and match favorites—from a classic steak and mashed potato station, to biscuits with all the fixings, to a nostalgic Frito pie bar.
Dessert was just as memorable: s’mores, churros, cookies, brownies, and ice cream, plus a small two-tier cake designed by Morgan Pearl Cakes. The cake featured a warm orange-coral hue on the bottom tier and was the perfect artistic complement to the day.
Some of the most powerful moments came through quiet, intentional details. Hartlea wore an antique necklace from the 1910s and a vintage bracelet that once belonged to her grandmother. Memorial chairs honored loved ones who were deeply missed, including Hartlea’s aunt Jill and Mike’s father, Kenneth.
Each chair was styled with care—florals, meaningful photos, and symbolic touches, including a helicopter pendant honoring Kenneth’s career as a pilot. Before the ceremony, Hartlea read a letter Jill had written prior to her passing—words that reminded her she would be celebrated and cheered on, even from afar.
Hartlea and Mike’s Prospect House fall wedding was layered with meaning, warmth, and joy. It was a day that felt timeless without being traditional, playful without losing depth, and deeply rooted in who they are—together.
If you’re planning your own Prospect House fall wedding and looking for a photographer who values story, sentiment, and intentional design, this day is a beautiful reminder of just how special weddings at this venue can be.
