This five mile dam engagement session has been a long time in the making and we are so glad we can finally share it with the world!! Ashleigh + Bryson have been an L+L Couple since booking with us nearly a year ago, so it’s been a long wait to get them on camera but we think you’ll agree – they are definitely worth the wait!!

Five Mile Dam

Five Mile Dam is a popular spot among Austin and San Marcos photographers, though in our experience it seems like a location more used for family or graduate photography than for engagement sessions.

In fact, we should give a shout out to Dorean Pope Photography, who introduced us to this spot and who is the person to whom we refer all our family, graduate or newborn photography inquiries. Given that this was our first time at Five Mile Dam, we got there a bit before Ashleigh + Bryson to get the lay of the land. Even in winter, this park has some beautiful location options for engagement photos, and we actually had a hard time narrowing our focus to just a few spots. Between the green/blue waters of the Blanco River and the neutral surface of the rocky banks, there is a lot to love about Five Mile Dam for photographers!

We actually first met Ashleigh back in 2019 when she was a bridesmaid at the wedding of another L+L Couple, Clarissa + Tony. And actually, Clarissa is part of the reason these two got together in the first place!

Clarissa got Ashleigh a job at HEB, the ultra-popular grocery store chain here in Central Texas. Bryson worked in the produce department and Ashleigh worked in curbside, and they quickly fell for each other. Ashleigh said Bryson was also super helpful when she had questions for him, and Bryson joked that Ashleigh seemed to always find reasons to visit the produce aisle while he was working. Such a cute story (and great job playing cupid, Clarissa!!).

HEB is still such an important part of their story! So much so that we stopped by the HEB in Kyle towards the end of their session to snap a few shots with HEB in the background. What’s the slogan? “No store does more than my HEB”? That’s definitely true for these two!!
